Background
Like many mid-level professionals, V. found herself at a crossroads where career ambitions clashed with the realities of family life. As a communications professional, her days were spent crafting narratives for others, but she struggled to write her own professional chapter. Living as a Singaporean in Australia added another layer of complexity, placing her in a new geographical and cultural landscape. When she first came to career coaching under The Happy Mondays Co’s Career Signature programme, she was carrying a heavy weight of uncertainty. Her challenge was structural but deeply personal: she felt torn between two seemingly incompatible worlds, trying to decide whether to pursue a full-time or part-time role while raising a young child and supporting her family. On one hand, she wanted to maintain her professional identity and momentum; on the other, she wanted to be fully present for her family. For V., the question was not just about finding any job; it was about finding the right way to work. She hoped to find clarity and a path forward that would allow her to pursue what was truly best for her career, her family, and her personal growth. But inside the traditional corporate binary of full-time versus standard part-time compromise, she felt stuck. She needed a safe space to explore what was possible beyond conventional structures.
